EVENT TYPE_ PERFORMANCE

Two mutant seabirds from the future, on a journey of exploration and survival, are here with their traveling sideshow to present some of their findings. Prepare to be dazzled by this multidisciplinary performance. The Devil Deep Blue’s travelling pop-up show is coming to the Hutt! Stay tuned to find out where they will land next, in a park or public space near you. Details will be released in late May.

Created by artist and theatre maker Sarah-Jane Blake with devisers and performers Chantelle Brader and Phoebe Borwick, Bird Booth is reminiscent of Punch & Judy puppet shows, Victorian traveling sideshows, peep shows and food carts.  Exploring our human relationship with the natural environment, specifically looking at our relationship to the ocean and climate change, Bird Booth employs mask, puppets and humour to address these tricky themes. Come along and take part in a science experiment, buy some Fish & Chips or help the gulls fight a giant sea monster! Bird Booth is an interactive feast. The show is suitable for children and adults alike. This project is supported by funding from Hutt City Council’s Creative Communities Scheme.
